Sashiko Fabric

Many beautiful fabrics that can be used for Sashiko

Traditionally, Sashiko was stitched with white thread on dark, indigo blue fabric.  Today many different colour combinations and designs can be used for Sashiko –   Sashiko has evolved into an art from its origins where is was designed to repair and recycle.

Consider using light threads on dark fabrics, as well as darker threads on light fabrics.  Be brave and experiment with coloured fabrics – coloured and variegated threads – Sashiko on checks and stripes –  your achievements are only limited by your imagination – I would suggest choosing the best quality fabric available for your project –
