I am very pleased to be one of the tutors at this retreat. Students will have the opportunity to sign up for the following sashiko projects under my instruction:
Create two indigenous-themed sashiko wall hangings. In the process, you’ll learn techniques essential to many sashiko projects: trace designs onto fabric for stitching; stitch your designs using sashiko embroidery; appliqué; audition fabrics using the mylar technique; stretch your panel over a frame for hanging.
Create a gorgeous table runner in sashiko. You’ll learn how to stitch a pre-printed sashiko panel and learn to experiment with variegated sashiko thread colours.
Create a beautiful square tablecloth using the famous Sashiko Crossings design. Master the techniques of sashiko stitching and appliqué.
