Register your interest for September’s Indigo Niche Block of the Month (BOM) quilt: the ‘Floral Traditions’ sashiko quilt.
All sashiko blocks are pre-printed for ease of stitching, incorporating both floral and traditional Japanese designs. The sashiko blocks are interspersed with some beautiful Japanese fabrics.
Scroll down and complete the form to register your interest. (Or email me at sue@indigoniche.com)
Name: Floral Traditions
Size: The finished quilt measures 73¼″ x 55½″ —it may be enlarged by adding main fabric.
Process: This quilt makes use of three pre-stencilled sashiko panels: two panels of traditional Japanese designs and one panel of floral designs, which are combined with a few gorgeous Japanese fabrics to give it a little lift.
I wanted to create a quilt that would appeal to quilters who love sashiko but have never tried it, hence my decision to incorporate pre-printed (aka pre-stencilled) sashiko panels. I think you’ll find this quilt an easy-going and enjoyable one to make, certainly easy to stitch.
Commencement Date: The first mail-out will be September 15th.
Frequency: Monthly

I’d like to add my name to your new Floal Traditions BOM please.
Hi Cathy, Very happy to have you as a return participant in the BOM. Could you please give me a ring on 0418157817 so that we can finalise the sign up. Many thanks. Sue Howie
Hi Sue I would love to participate in the BOM but don’t have a Facebook Account. Is it essential in order to participate?
Regards Judi W
Hi Judith. Definitely not necessary to have a facebook account. That is just an added extra for the group to connect with each other. Has nothing to do with anyone being able to do the BOM. Thank you for joining. Cheers. Sue
Hi Sue, I submitted an expression of interest in the Floral Traditions BOM but didn’t receive a reply. I resubmitted a EOI (sorry if I’m doubling up). Just need to know if my request are going through.
Hi Jen. Have sent you an email with my reply. Sue

Hello Phillippa. – Thank you for your enquiry regarding the BOM – you are not too late to sign up. – I’m still taking bookings and will be for quite a while. Please give me a call on Monday and we can organise to have you start. Cheers. Sue
Hello Phillippa, thank you for your interest in the BOM – you can still sign up for this – I can catch you up with blocks very easily. If you decide you wanted to join, please ring me on 0418 157817. Cheers. Sue
Hallo Sue Howie, ist möglich von Deutschland aus teilzunehmen?
Wie hoch sind die Kosten?
vielen Dank Andrea
Hello Andrea – It is not too late to sign up. – For people from overseas who would like to do the BOM I usually suggest that you do it in 3 month blocks at a time. This then allows for no extra postage as I absorb it – express post. Please let me know if you would like to go ahead – I can send you more information for you to decide. Cheers. sue
Hallo Sue Howie, da will ich gern dabei sein und werde mich in die Anmeldung eintragen. Vielen Dank! aus Germany.
Hello Andrea, if you would like to send me an email with your details i will sign you up for the Block of the Month if that is what you are wishing to do. I will need to contact you for payment details as well as sending address etc. Hope this helps. Cheers. Sue Howie
I am very interested in learning this craft. I live in Caboolture. Wanting to know nearest venue for buying materials and learning this craft. Thanks
Hello Cathryn, Thank you for your email and interest in Sashiko and Boro. – I do not have a shop front – am strictly an online outlet. You can certainly purchase beginner kits on my website which are self explanatory and easy to use. I also have a You Tube Channel which has videos on which are designed to help the beginner. Hope this will help you. Cheers. Sue Howie
Good afternoon Sue;
I have only just today (May 15th) found your Website after watching one of your YouTube Videos & its so refreshing that you & your Website & YouTube Channel are based in Australia. I live down on the north west coast of Tasmania & I am very keen to join in on the upcoming Sashiko Block of the Month Series in September (if I’ve read the relevant information correctly). I was introduced to Sashiko Needlework at a CWA Craft Afternoon in 2015 & have been “hooked on it” ever since. I have Registered for the above mentioned “Sew Along” & I’m looking forward to improving my very basic Sashiko Skills.
Thanking You in advance, Zoe. 🙂
Hi Zoe,
Unfortunately that Block of the Month commenced in September of last year and has now concluded. The best way to keep informed of any future BOMs is to subscribe to my newsletter. Simply head to the homepage and you’ll see the subscription form there.
