Nowaki Grasses Sashiko Sampler

The Nowaki Grasses Sashiko Sampler is a cotton sashiko sampler with a pre-printed design, printed in Australia by Indigo Niche.

This traditional Japanese motif is available pre-printed on cherry red, indigo, and French blue fabric. Each sampler panel measures 12″ x 12″.

Suitable for projects such as tote bags, table runners and Japanese quilting.

About the design

Nowaki refers to “windblown grasses”. This beautifully evocative sashiko motif likely developed from Japanese coastal fishing communities.

It depicts the shape of dune grasses in a strong sea breeze, and represents both resilience and the fortified strength derived from one’s roots.
